Lawn Fertilization & Pest Control in Star, ID

Scheduled fertilization and pest protection for Star's growing neighborhoods.

Star has added a great deal of new housing in a short time, and we treat a mix of brand-new subdivision lawns alongside long-established properties on the older parts of town and out toward the river. Those two groups need genuinely different programs.

What makes Star lawns different?

New subdivision lawns in Star have the same builder-soil profile we see in Kuna — sod over thin topsoil over compacted ground — and the same consequences: shallow roots, midsummer browning, and vulnerability to billbugs until the turf thickens.

Older properties closer to the Boise River corridor are a different situation entirely. Established soil, mature trees, and a higher water table in places, which changes both drainage and how the lawn responds through the season. Lawns there generally need less aggressive soil work and more attention to shade and tree competition.

Our Star lawn fertilization program

Every Star lawn we treat is on the same six-application schedule, timed to Idaho's growing season rather than a national calendar: early-spring feeding with pre-emergent crabgrass control, late-spring broadleaf weed control, two summer feedings sized to heat stress, the heavy early-fall feeding, and a late-fall winterizer before the ground freezes. Rates are adjusted to your soil and turf, not applied from a template. See the full program breakdown.

Pest control in Star

Star's newer neighborhoods bring the standard subdivision pest list — ants, spiders, and wasps around foundations and eaves. Properties nearer the river corridor see more mosquito pressure through summer, where barrier treatments of harborage areas do more than anything applied to open lawn.

Our perimeter treatments use family- and pet-safe products applied where pests actually travel and harbor, with free re-service between scheduled visits if something gets through. More on how pest control works.

Free Star lawn assessment

We quote from an on-site visit, never over the phone from a square-footage guess. We walk the property, check soil and turf condition, look at sprinkler coverage, and identify what's actually limiting the lawn — then give you a per-application price with no obligation. Frequently asked questions

We just moved into a new Star subdivision. When should we start a program?

The first full season is the right time. New sod looks fine initially, so most people wait until year two when it starts thinning — by then you're recovering a lawn instead of establishing one. Early aeration and soil building is the cheapest version of this problem.

We're near the river and mosquitoes are bad. Can you help?

Yes. Mosquito barrier treatments target the shaded, humid harborage areas where they rest during the day — under decks, in dense shrubs, along fence lines — rather than the open lawn. We also point out standing-water sources on the property, which usually matters more than any treatment.

Is Star on your regular route?

Yes. Star is a scheduled part of our weekly routing along with Eagle and Middleton.
