Sprinkler Repair, Start-Up & Blowouts in Meridian, Boise & the Treasure Valley

Design and installation, repairs, spring start-up and fall blowouts — because watering problems undo good lawn care faster than anything else.

Sprinkler service covers spring start-up and coverage checks, in-season repairs, design and installation of new systems, and fall shutdown and blowout before the first hard freeze. It is for homeowners and commercial properties across Meridian, Boise, Nampa, Eagle, Caldwell, Kuna, Star and Middleton. Free estimate: (208) 484-5568.

What's included

  • Spring start-up: charging the system, checking every zone, and correcting coverage before the heat arrives.
  • Repairs: broken and sunken heads, cracked lines, valves, and zones that have stopped running.
  • Coverage and scheduling review, so run times match what the turf actually needs in this climate rather than a factory default.
  • Design and installation of new automated systems, laid out for the property rather than from a template.
  • Reworking tired systems — head layout, zoning and coverage on a system that no longer waters the whole lawn evenly.
  • Fall shutdown and blowout before the first hard freeze.

Why coverage matters more here than almost anywhere

The Treasure Valley is high desert with alkaline, compacted clay soil. Water does not move sideways through clay the way it does through loam, so a gap in head-to-head coverage shows up as a distinct dry patch rather than a slightly thinner area. Combine that with 95°F afternoons and a lawn can lose a zone's worth of turf in a fortnight. Most of the "the fertilizer is not working" calls we take in July turn out to be irrigation.

Irrigation-district water and pressurised systems

A lot of valley neighbourhoods run on pressurised irrigation from a district rather than on domestic water, which changes the job in two ways. Pressure varies with what the district is doing, so a system laid out for ideal pressure can starve its far zones mid-season. And district water carries sediment, which is what clogs nozzles and sticks valves over a few seasons. Both are diagnosable by running the zones and watching, which is what a start-up visit is for — and neither is obvious from a timer in a garage.

How the process works

For a start-up or a repair we charge the system, run every zone, and watch where the water actually lands, noting heads that are broken, sunken, blocked or misaimed and zones that lose pressure. You get a plain list of what needs doing and what it will take. For a new system or a rework, we measure the property, work out zoning around sun, slope and plant type, and design from that. Fall blowouts are scheduled by condition rather than by date.

Fall blowouts: timing, not a date

Shut the system down once the lawn no longer needs irrigation — watch soil moisture and night temperatures rather than a calendar — and get the lines blown out before the first hard freeze. Water left standing in a line is what cracks it over an Idaho winter, and a cracked mainline is a spring job, not a fall one. One scheduling note: if you are on our fertilization program, we like to get the winterizer down before the blowout so it can still be watered in. Our shutdown timing guide →

Watering a Treasure Valley lawn properly

Deep and infrequent beats short and daily. Daily light watering keeps roots shallow and the surface permanently damp, which is also an invitation to disease and to mosquitoes breeding in the low spots. Fewer, longer cycles push roots down, and a deeper-rooted lawn survives the stretch of August when nothing you apply will save it. Getting there needs coverage you can trust, which is the point of the start-up check.

Why Diamond Lawns

We are a lawn company that services irrigation, and that order matters. When a lawn has brown patches that will not respond, the cause is as often a zone that is not reaching as it is anything we applied — and being able to look at both in one visit is why we fix irrigation at all. Frequently asked questions

When should I have my sprinklers blown out in Idaho?

After the lawn no longer needs irrigation and before the first hard freeze. Watch soil moisture and night temperatures rather than picking a date — in the Treasure Valley that usually lands in October. Water left in a line is what cracks it over winter.

Do you install new sprinkler systems or only repair them?

Both. We design and install new automated systems, and we also rework older systems whose coverage or zoning no longer suits the property.

My lawn has a dry patch that will not green up. Is that fertilizer or sprinklers?

More often sprinklers. In compacted valley clay, water does not spread sideways, so a coverage gap shows as a defined dry patch. Billbug damage and pet spots look similar, which is why we diagnose on site before recommending anything — the fix is completely different in each case.

How often should I water a lawn in the Treasure Valley?

Deep and infrequent rather than short and daily. Longer cycles spaced further apart push roots downward, and a deep-rooted lawn handles August far better. The right numbers depend on your soil, your heads and your slope, which is what the coverage review is for.

Can you service my sprinklers if I am not a lawn customer?

Yes. Sprinkler work is quoted separately from the fertilization program.

How much does a sprinkler repair or blowout cost?

It depends on the number of zones, what is actually broken and how accessible it is. We quote after running the system — call (208) 484-5568 to get on the schedule.
